Friends, Meta platform has updated itself a bit. Meta platform has recently entered into a partnership with Reuters, in which its AI chatbot, Meta AI, will be used to answer all user questions about current events in real time or use Reuters news content to provide updates and answers.

This agreement, which operates under a multi-year, paid licensing deal, marks Meta’s re-engagement with news content, a move that comes after a period of reduced news offerings on its platforms amid criticisms over misinformation and content management practices.

With Reuters’ trusted reporting, Meta AI can now respond to news-related queries by generating summaries and directing users to relevant Reuters articles. While Meta has not revealed whether Reuters’ content will also train its broader AI models, the partnership comes on the heels of tech companies like OpenAI and Perplexity collaborating with news organizations to enhance AI reliability and credibility in news delivery, and many other companies that have similarly partnered with AI.

This partnership also builds on an existing fact-checking arrangement Reuters has maintained with Meta since 2020, aiming to strengthen the accuracy and quality of information available through Meta’s services, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
